When I’m writing a book, I always find myself thinking beyond the pages.
I think about the atmosphere. The music. The late-night conversations. The places my characters would go, and yes, sometimes even what they’d order to drink.
Every story has its own flavor, and His Reckless Obsession is no exception.
This book is bold, intoxicating, and impossible to walk away from. It’s filled with dangerous attraction, impossible choices, and chemistry that simmers until it finally erupts. If I had to pair it with one cocktail, it would be something just as rich, complex, and unforgettable.
So, if you’re looking for the perfect companion while you read, here’s what I’d pour.
The Reckless Obsession
Ingredients:
- 2 oz bourbon
- ½ oz coffee liqueur
- ½ oz amaretto
- ¼ oz cinnamon simple syrup
- 2 dashes chocolate bitters
- Orange peel
- Luxardo cherry (optional)
Directions
Fill a mixing glass with ice.
Add the bourbon, coffee liqueur, amaretto, cinnamon syrup, and chocolate bitters. Stir until well chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
Express the orange peel over the drink, rub it around the rim of the glass, and garnish with the peel and a cherry.
Why This Cocktail?
I wanted a drink that reflected the heart of the story.
The bourbon is bold and commanding. It’s the kind of presence that fills a room without saying a word.
The coffee liqueur brings depth, hinting at the darkness beneath the surface.
The amaretto adds just enough sweetness to remind you that even the hardest hearts have something worth protecting.
And the cinnamon? That’s the spark. The heat. The undeniable attraction that neither character can ignore, no matter how hard they try.
Like the story itself, every sip begins one way, and leaves you with something unexpected.
Pour a Glass and Settle In
One of my favorite ways to unwind is with a great book, a cozy spot, and a drink that fits the mood. If you’re diving into His Reckless Obsession, I hope this cocktail helps set the scene.
Expect obsession. Expect tension. Expect secrets. And expect to tell yourself “just one more chapter” more than once.
If you decide to make The Reckless Obsession, I’d love to hear what you think. And if you share a photo, be sure to tag me—I always enjoy seeing how readers bring my stories to life.
Cheers, and happy reading. 🖤🥃
